One day as I was thinking about the beauty of the Word of God, the 23rd Psalm came to my mind. Have you considered the glory of the promises in that beautiful psalm? I thought about what it would actually say in today’s common language. Perhaps something like this:
Ps 23:1-6 the Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
God takes care of me, therefore all my needs are provided for me.
23:2 he makes me to lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside the still waters.
He gives me peace in the midst of abundance; and leads me to safe waters.
or
He gives me the peace and confidence that my food and water are always provided.
23:3 he restores my soul; he leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
He heals me in every way; he shows and helps me to do what is right in all things because of who he is.
23:4 yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me
Yes, even when things around me threaten my life, I will not be afraid of being hurt; because, dear God, you are with me; your law and your power give me confidence that all is well.
23:5 you prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over.
You bless me when my enemies are near; you set me apart as special; my blessings are more than enough.
23:6 surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
For sure all that is good and merciful shall always be a part of my life and I shall live forever.
Psalms 23
(Holy Spirit 2/10/2012)
The Lord takes care of me, therefore all my needs shall always be provided for me.
He gives me peace in the midst of abundance; and leads me to safe waters.
he heals me in every way; he shows me what is right and helps me to do what is right in all things because he is the Lord.
Yes, even when things around me threaten my life, I will not be afraid of being hurt; because, dear Lord, you are with me; your law and your power give me confidence that all is well.
You bless me when my enemies are near; you set me apart as special; my blessings are overflowing.
It is certain that all that is good and merciful shall always be a part of my life and I shall live forever.
