The little girl waited at the window, her face a study of intense concentration and eager gaze darting back and forth down the long road that passed by the small cottage where her family lived.

It was the end of a long day, and dinner was rapidly approaching.

There.

A man walking up the path, smile lines around his mouth and eyes.

His daughter squealed with pleasure, flung herself from the window, through the front door, then tore down the road to throw herself in his arms with a glad cry. “Daddy! You’re home!”

He held her close. “I’m home.”

“For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Is it not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming?” — I Thess. 2:19 NKJV
